Wet and humid crawl space in Sussex County, DE

This crawl space was full of moisture and related problems. The inspector found evidence of high humidity, possible mold spores, and damaged insulation. The ground cover was older 6 mil liner and was barely covering the ground at all. DryZone installed a high quality 20 mil liner called CleanSpace. The liner is installed on the walls and the floor which effectively locks out the moisture and keeps the crawl space dry. DryZone also installed a perimeter drainage pipe system, sump pump, and high quality dehumidifier. With all of these products installed the crawl space is now dry, clean, and healthier.

Cracking wall gets some braces

Most of us know that once a house is built it takes a few years to "settle". With a basement this can be pretty dangerous though. The pressure from the house, dirt, and water pushing on the basement walls can cause them to crack and start to buckle. When a wall bows inward all the weight from the top and the dirt pushing in can cause it to collapse. Then you have a very unstable foundation and risk your house coming down. To fix this problem the wall needs to be straightened back out, strengthened, and anchored down. DryZone installs a great product for this called Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System. This product consists of three parts. An earth anchor placed securely in stable soil, a long threaded steel rod that connects to the steel plates on the inside of the wall. This system holds the wall in place so it cannot bow any further. The anchor can also be tightened at different intervals to straighten the wall out. In addition you can also get hide away panels for finished or unfinished basements.

I have a pond under my house!

Wow, where are the fish at? Does your crawlspace look like this one from Fenwick Island? WE CAN FIX IT! This crawlspace got the water pumped out, perimeter drainage, a sump pump, and CleanSpace put in. No more water down there for them, guess they have to put a fish tank upstairs now.

If you have excessive standing water like this house the best thing for you to get is our WaterGuard system, with the TripleSafe sump pump, CleanSpace, SaniDry cx, and vent covers. You also need to make sure you don't have any plumbing leaks.

Insulation is Bad

Humidity causes insulation to become saturated with water, sag, grow mold, and fall to the ground. Its better to have a vapor barrier with insulation than to have insulation. However if you prefer to have insulation you could get SilverGlo, a water proof foam panel with graphite particles to reflect heat into the crawlspace more.

Turtl

If you have a leaky entryway to your crawlspace it can cause major problems. It can warp the entryway or door, rust your door, and of course it lets water and humid air into your crawlspace. A great solution to this is to get the water and air tight sealed Turtl. Also if you put one in and have it so the lid is at ground level, it's extremely durable so if someone was to walk on it or fall on top they aren't going to fall into a hole like most entry ways. The Turtl box can also lock, which is great if you decided to use your new CleanSpace crawlspace as storage!
