Mildew and Mold in Crawlspace and Cracking Walls in Lincoln, DE

This homeowner in Lincoln, DE noticed the walls in their crawl space were covered in a mildew/dust-like substance and that the walls appeared to be cracking. In addition, the homeowners noticed mildew and mold upstairs in the home. Unsure of where to turn, the homeowners made the best decision when they called the experts here at DryZone. Upon arrival, the DryZone inspector discovered the crawl space was extremely damp and would benefit from CleanSpace encapsulation, insulation and debris removal, and a SaniDry Sedona. The homeowner was excited to do all that was recommended and the DryZone team got straight to work and did just that! Now, the homeowner and their entire family can enjoy their home more without the interference of any mold or mildew.

MOLD: the four letter word on the Delmarva Peninsula!

This home owner called us with a musty smell that they were not sure where it was coming from.  We did a thorough inspection of their crawlspace and found the dreaded MOLD on a lot of the joists.  The moisture was very high do to an inadequate vapor barrier, open vents and a screen for a crawlspace entrance. We installed a new moisture barrier called CleanSpace, mitigated the mold and installed a new crawlspace entrance.  The home was done in three days, the floors were warmer in the winter, and the home was much dryer.

Repairing a wet crawlspace in Delaware

Studies have shown that a crawlspace with the foundation vents left open can hurt your home.  The quality of the air will decrease and the wood in the home can get termites, mold or wood rot.  More importantly you will lose electricy or gas in your home, this is due to either hot or cold air (depending on the season) getting into your crawlspace.  Your HVAC equipment is sometimes located in the crawlspace and when you have your air conditioner running in the summer, the vents that are open will allow hot humid air in from the outside which makes the furnace less efficient.  Stop this by having DryZone install a new vapor barrier and block those vents. DryZone services all of DE and MD.
