Wooden subfloors can hold moisture and even start to cause droplets to form. With an encapsulated crawl space, moisture in the air is under control!
Microbial growth needs a lot of moisture to survive. This crawl space was improperly wrapped during construction and as a result, the moisture level stayed high. Because this homeowner's parents lived in the home as well, the concern for microbial growth affecting health was much higher.
This crawlspace had previously had a plastic liner installed which is a ineffective way of trying to protect your crawlspace. It can easily be torn and tends to come loose making it ineffective at preventing earth moisture from coming up. CleanSpace is a much better alternative as it is tough as to not tear and it is firmly attached to the floor of your crawlspace.
These homeowners recently purchased the home and found issues with their crawl space from the inspection. They are planning to live here for good and want to ensure that they have a healthy and clean home.
In order to help them, we need to regrade the crawlspace, remove debris, and install multiple products such as: a triplesafe pump - iceguard - and a drainine system. Lastly, we will be installing cleanspace with drainage matting to keep the space clean and dry.
This homeowner reached out to us because they were wanting to have more natural light in their home, and we had installed windows in their basement in the past. With a quick recommendation on adding another EverLast basement window, we were able to be in and out and complete the job they were looking for.
The reason for the recommendation for the EverLast basement window is because a normal new window alone would not prevent window leakage. This window prevents any water from breaching its seal and keeps water out of the home and basement.
