Crawl Space Repair Photo Album: Crawl Space Encapsulation in Felton, DE
Bill had been noticing musty odors coming up from his crawlspace and knew there was likely a bigger issue causing the problem. Wanting to address it before it led to further damage, he contacted the trusted experts at DryZone to schedule a free inspection.
Our System Design Specialist Tom conducted a thorough inspection and reviewed his findings with the homeowner. During the inspection, he found that the humidity level in the crawlspace was over 86%, well above the recommended 55% benchmark. He also found signs of microbial growth on the floor support system, showing just how much excess moisture was affecting the space.
To solve the problem, DryZone installed a full crawlspace encapsulation system featuring CleanSpace, DrainageMatting, and a SaniDry Sedona. The SaniDry Sedona will play an important role in keeping the humidity at or below the recommended 55% benchmark, with the capacity to remove up to 100 pints of water per day while moving more than 300 cubic feet of dry air per minute throughout the crawlspace or basement. DrainageMatting is installed beneath the CleanSpace liner to create a drainage space that allows water to flow to a SmartPipe or SmartSump system.
Bill can now enjoy peace of mind knowing his crawlspace is protected from high humidity and the problems that come with it. DryZone is proud to offer solutions that help protect homes across Delmarva.
Humidity Reading
The humidity reading in this crawlspace was over 86%, which is well above the recommended 55% benchmark. That high level of humidity was causing the moisture issues and contributing to microbial growth.
Microbial Growth
The batt insulation was removed from the crawlspace, and during the removal process, we found that it was waterlogged.
Hanging Insulation
The hanging insulation will be removed from the crawlspace before the encapsulation is installed.
Existing Liner
The existing liner and debris will be removed from the crawlspace. Once that is complete, the soil will be regraded to improve drainage.
CleanSpace
A dirt crawlspace can lead to all kinds of problems for a home, including excess humidity, condensation, microbial growth, pests, cold floors, musty odors, and drafts. CleanSpace helps solve these issues by creating a barrier between your home and the earth, helping keep the crawlspace cleaner, drier, and better protected.
CleanSpace
The entire crawlspace is lined with CleanSpace to help permanently separate your home from the ground.
