Milton, DE rotting and damaged wood

Milton DE rotting and damaged wood - Image 1  Wood is very strong when it stays dry. Wood is a lot like a spaghetti noodle, its very stiff when its dry but flexible when its wet. Now take that same noodle and let it dry out…is it perfectly straight? When we try and push up on the warped wood, it can actually cause more harm than good. If the wood stays wet and we try and push up to level the floor, it will crush and ruin what is left of the strength in the wood.

Many homes that we see have wet wood and in order to strengthen the floors, we dry it out. What happens when the wood is beyond the point where drying it out will help? What if the wood is not salvageable? At that point we need to be talking about replacing the wood. As you can imagine, this is a very involved process. Time and care has to be taken in order to do it right. DryZone is the area leader in proper wood replacement.

Recently we did a job on a house in Milton, DE. The moisture in the wood had reached dangerous levels. Wood was rotting and the floors were unstable. The homeowner thought it would have to be torn down and re-built. The problem with re-building is that you end up paying tons of money just to tear down and remove the old house…just to be left with an empty lot. Why not spend the money to get the problem fixed and continue to enjoy your home. Wood replacement generally means you can stay in the home during the installation. It also means that the foundation will be nice and strong once we are done. These two reasons made our recent homeowner very happy. They had planned on a holiday party with the neighborhood at the end of summer and were relieved to know that they didn’t have to cancel. We took all the dirty old wood out and replaced it with brand new lumber. After the removal, we noticed quite a bit of termite damage as well. Talk about your lucky breaks….
