Choosing the right insulation for your basement is important

Insulated Everlast wall panel

One thing to remember when finishing off your basement is that not all insulation is created equal. When most people are asked about insulation, they will think of pink fiberglass material. Unless you really do your research, you might think that this is the only kind of insulation available. When DryZone finishes a basement with EverLast Wall Panels, we use closed-cell foam insulation. Closed cell just means that it will not absorb water - sounds like a good idea for basements right? There is nothing wrong with other types of insulation, as long as it stays dry. As we all know a basement isn’t a dry environment.

If you don’t use the proper insulation for your basement finishing project, it could easily get ruined by water or water vapor. Also, you might notice the grey color of the EverLast walls. This is due to the graphite that is infused in the insulation itself. We have found that graphite is great at holding heat. When we tested plain insulation versus some that had graphite in it, we found a noticeable difference. The two inches of insulation on our EverLast Wall panels is roughly the same as six inches of the pink fiberglass stuff. Imagine the amount of space six inches around the entire basement can be…that is a lot of used up space. There are a lot of homeowners that tell us that not only is the basement warmer but, the sound from a television, kids playing, radios, etc. is significantly reduced. So when you are looking into which product to use in a basement finishing project, choose wisely and let DryZone install Everlast Wall Panels.
