One and Done Isn't Always The Case With Your Crawl Space: A Home in Dagsboro, DE

Old Sump Pump

A lot of us have wishful thinking when it comes to paying for large projects in our homes: the one-and-done syndrome. But that type of thinking doesn't always work, especially with work on your home. A lot of things can affect our home over time, one of them being the weather. Rain, wind, snow, humid days, and the dog days of summer all affect our home in different ways over the years. That is why we highly suggest always keeping your annual service maintenance appointments with us!

The above picture is from a home in Dagsboro, DE that went with another contractor the first time in controlling their crawl space. They thought they did everything right: sump pumps, discharge lines going out into their yard away from the home, a liner placed in the crawl space....but something was wrong. The homeowner started noticing a musty smell in their home, a very "not normal" smell for their cozy home. They reached out to us to see if maybe something was wrong and we found a bunch!

The liner the other contractor laid down wasn't really conditioning anything. It was thin and ripped in several places, allowing moisture to enter the home. The sump pumps were definitely on their last leg, filled with dirt and not working at their full capacity. DryZone came to the rescue by fully encapsulating the whole crawl space with our 20 mil CleanSpace liner. The liner is also placed up the wall approximately 6 inches away from the floor joists and beams. We also replaced the existing sump pumps with our TripleSafe sump pumps. With a platform in the sump bucket, the pump motor is not sitting at the bottom of the bucket that fills with silt and small dirt particles. To keep the crawl space dry in changing seasons, DryZone added a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.

So when it comes to your crawl space, don't forget that over time, things may need to be kept and possibly even replaced to keep your crawl space dry and we are here to help! You can give us a call to schedule a free estimate or if you need an annual service maintenance appointment, we can set that up for you too!
