The homeowner reached out to us because they were having water come into their basement during heavy rains. Their basement is already finished, so they want to have this issue fixed quickly to ensure there is no further damage.
Upon inspection of the wall, we were able to find cracks around and near two pipes. We used FlexiSpan to seal and protect the area.
This homeowner has noticed that every time after it rains, water pools up and stays in the crawlspace. They mentioned it has been going on for quite some time now and are finally fed up with it and want to have it fixed and resolved permanently.
Our team went out to scope out the crawlspace to see how we could help and recommended a handful of products that we could use to help solve their problem. Starting with a HydroLink drainage system, which allows water to flow and reach a SmartSump or TripleSafe sump pump system. There is a nylon sock that surrounds the pipe which adds an extra layer of filtration to prevent major clogging.
We also installed CleanSpace with draining matting, SaniDry Sedona, IceGuard, SilverGlo and discharge lines. All of which help in the aid of keeping the crawlspace a clean, dry and healthy area.
The homeowner noticed some water on the floor near and around their closet. Having water enter your home through walls is never a good thing so we made sure to inspect the area to ensure a permanent fix. After taking a look through a minor cut in the dry wall, we noticed the crack ran both north and south. Because of this, we had to cut out a any drywall that was in the path.
Once all of the drywall was cut back, we used FlexiSpan to fill and seal the crack. FlexiSpan is a three-part process that begins with the application of a flexible sealant along the full length of the crack. Next, a strip of flexible and porous foam is installed over the crack.
Finally, an impermeable membrane is adhered to the wall on both sides of the foam strip. This fail-safe treatment allows any future seepage of water through the crack to move invisibly down the wall and into the basement’s perimeter drainage system.
As for the downspout, we needed to extend it to ensure that water would be sent further away from the home and the foundation. We were able to do this with roughly 10ft of pipe and a LawnScape outlet.
When you have a leak or other water problem in your finished basement, the organic building materials will be ruined. There are a few options when fixing the problem. These photos show the Everlast Wall Restoration System. We remove the heavily damaged panels/drywall and replace them with waterproof panels that will last you for years.
The CleanSpace vapor barrier is one of the best weapons in the DryZone arsenal for fighting humidity and harsh odors. It is a 7 layer thick liner that actually prevents mold from growing on it. The differences in these pictures are numerous. Some of the biggest changes are the vents being blocked to stop wet air from coming in, a sump pump to control ground water, and the vapor barrier itself. The old insulation has also been removed. It was wet and ruined by the damp conditions. With the CleanSpace system, many homeowners tell us that the insulation isn't even needed anymore. Their floors stay nice all year and the smells go away since the "mold farms" in the floor boards are out of there.
