Crawlspace insulation, it effects the feel of the entire house

Around the time when the leaves start to change, we also start to feel a Crawlspace insulation it effects the feel of the entire house - Image 1little nip in the air. The normal reaction to the season is to turn up the temperature on the thermostat and just deal with the higher energy bill. What if there was a way to not only make your home more comfortable but lower energy costs at the same time? Well there is a way and it might surprise you.

Most of the air in our home originates from underneath. This means that the air in our crawlspace or basement is going to naturally flow up into the living space above. When that air is cold it effects the rest of the home in a negative way. People start to bundle up in warm clothes just to sit on the couch. This eventually leads to the thermostat getting bumped up a few degrees. The problem stems from the lack of proper insulation in the home. Most of the time houses are built with fiberglass insulation stuck up in the floor boards under the home. This stuff starts to sag and get wet, and when that happens it becomes useless.

Neither of these methods are meant for a crawlspace. Why replace the ruined fiberglass with the same material? Won’t it just get ruined all over again? Yes it will. Spray foam insulation is a bad product for a crawlspace for many reasons, the least of which is that it locks the moisture in the wood. Basically, this creates wood rot and mold issues. DryZone prefers to use a rigid foam board called SilverGlo. The SilverGlo product is perfect for crawlspace insulation. Since it is a strong and solid board, it isn’t easily damaged. It goes on the walls instead of in the floor boards. This process makes sure that it stays in place, since gravity won’t pull it down. It also means that the cold air won’t get in the crawlspace to begin with. Your crawlspace air will stay warm and comfortable year round. That air will then enter the house and keep those floors nice and warm. Many of our homeowner’s experience a difference almost immediately. I remember one lady in particular that had SilverGlo installed on a Wednesday and called me on the following Tuesday to thank me for the nice warm floors. Less then a week after the installation and she was feeling noticeably more comfortable. That is how we measure results, by the number of satisfied customers we have.
