Drywall is ruined...what do I do?

Ruined Drywall

One day you are happy and enjoying your basement. The next day you are vacuuming up water and calling a repair company. When you finally discover the source you are amazed that it was a small leak in your water heater. Water heaters are typically found in the basement and often are left unchecked for years. When they leak or burst completely you end up with the hassle of clean up and replacement of walls, flooring, and the water heater itself. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could cut out two of those three jobs? With the EverLast wall panels and ThermalDry flooring, you can.

Total Basement Finishing has designed a system for finishing basements that is basically immune to water damage. Drywall and other lower quality building materials are made with organic things like wood, paper, and even animal byproducts. Anything organic (at one time was alive) has the capacity to grow mold. All it needs is the right amount of water, and sometimes that is very little. In the scenario with the water heater, if it leaks just a little throughout the night when you are sleeping you can wake up to a massive saturation. It will soak into the carpet and from there spread into the drywall or other paneling. Before you know it, you are in the middle of a basement remodeling project. All of this can be avoided if basements are finished with the proper materials.

carpet gone and ruined

Here at Total Basement Finishing we don’t even like to use the term “refinishing.” What’s the point of doing anything twice or more when you could do it right the first time and never have to worry about it again. We FINISH basements…period.
