Lewes is one of our great beach communities in lower Delaware. Being so close to the water means that the majority of homes have sand in the crawl space. Sand works well for draining standing water, but it also lets moisture flow freely into the air from the ground. Sealing the ground with a fantastic vapor barrier is the best way to keep your home dry and free of mold and bugs.

This crawl space had some serious debris and an old, nasty plastic liner in it. The humidity was very high and the smells from mold growth and rot were starting to affect the rest of the home. DryZone was hired to install a quality vapor barrier and drainage system. The vapor barrier that we use is called CleanSpace and is 20-mil thick. It has a huge warranty against tears and punctures. The drainage system consists of over 170 feet of pipe with a couple sump pumps. It will control any ground water that might have otherwise ruined the new conditions in the crawl space. When everything was finished, the crawl space was protected against standing water and high humidity. It can dry out and the smells will fade once the clean air is circulated.
