This skylight was installed in a beautiful finished basement to let light into the dark space. The problem was that it leaked a lot during rain storms. Eventually the entire basement started to smell and the homeowner called DryZone for help. A egress window is designed to be multipurpose. It lets a lot of light into a basement and also acts as an emergency fire escape. DryZone has installed many egress windows and the crews know just how to get that snug fit to avoid leaks.

Job Stories From Harbeson, DE
Sealing a Leaking Crack in Harbeson, DE Basement

After noticing a crack on the foundation, this Harbeson, DE homeowner wondered if water was entering his finished basement. After investigating the floor of the basement, he saw some moisture collect through the carpet. Now the concern for the foundation grew, and the concern for a future of mold on drywall grew even more. He called the experts at DryZone to waterproof the crack and protect the foundation. DryZone installed FlexiSpan on the crack and a moisture catch at the bottom. Now the crack is sealed and any moisture intrusion is caught and controlled.

I have inherited my family home in Harbeson Delaware and want to make some repairs. I figured the foundation is a good place to start. Its a double wide from the late 80s. The sub frame has been removed, and it sits on a perimeter of concrete blocks and has rusted (out) metal struts supporting the interior. I am worried that the state of the foundation will be a problem when introducing new drywall and additions to the home. I am currently in the army and stationed across the country in Washington state. My parents still reside there. If you have any questions feel free to give me a call.

During extreme (very extreme > 13" of rain) wet conditions, there has been water seepage around the sewer drain pipe in the basement foundation wall. I found the grade around the foundation as well as the diversion of rain water from the gutters needs repair, and that is being addressed. From observation in the basement, the area around the sewer pipe appears to have a tar/roof repair seal with possibly some hydraulic cement. This was done by the previous owner. I suspect the water diversion will have the most impact and is particularly needed during times of extreme rain (e.g. > 13" in one storm). I understand you might have to inspect before making any comment. I would like to know if you have any recommendations for the seal around the sewer pipe. Thank you. - Jim
