Signs of settling were appearing in this Chestertown home. With sinking floors and sticking doors, this homeowner was starting to be concerned for the integrity of the piers underneath her kitchen. After a thorough inspection from a DryZone Design Specialist, it was discovered that her piers were sinking into the ground and there was high moisture in the crawlspace causing the wood to be soft.
As a solution, DryZone installed SmartJacks and a support beam to level the floor above. To reduce the moisture in the air, the crawlspace and base of the SmartJacks were wrapped in CleanSpace. After placing a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, the crawlspace was protected from further moisture damage.
This home in Chestertown is located close to the Chester River. Known for being beautiful and pristine and also for the high moisture content in the soil. This older home was built with the open vent crawl space system with a dirt floor. Allowing the humid air to stay in the crawl space and moist air to rise from the ground. Over time this helps to create an environment for mold to grow and thrive and then causing the wood in the crawl space to rot.
