In this podcast Bill and Derek talk about a product used by DryZone to fix structural damages in crawl spaces: the SmartJack System.
As discussed in previous podcasts, humidity in the crawl space can lead to wood decay. Moist wood is weakened and extremely susceptible to mold, dry rot and also particularly attractive to moisture-loving pests such as termites and carpenter ants. Once the wood starts to decay, the beams and joints that support the floor structure above the crawl space will begin to sag. Homeowners may notice that their floors are bouncy, squeaky or separating from the walls in some areas.
SmartJacks are designed to address that problem by supporting and stabilizing the joists and beams, and in many cases lifting the structure back into its original position.
